First of Two Tree Care Training Workshop Held

The first of two Tree Care Workshops was held at Springfield Technical Community College, on January 23, 2014.  Thirty-eight attendees participated in this session, which introduced urban forest concepts to the audience, as well as planting, pruning and tree growth components.  The three-hour session is part of an effort to enlist and train volunteer ‘Orchard Tenders’, who will help to care for the two newly established fruit tree orchards in the city.  For more information on how you can join this effort, please Click Here.

Springfield Garden Club Donates New Trees to Regreen Springfield

On Saturday, November 23rd volunteers gathered at the intersection of Allen St. and Bicentennial Highway in Springfield’s East Forest Park neighborhood. The Springfield Garden Club graciously donated 17 new trees to be planted at the new green space adjacent to the intersection. Volunteers from Springfield high schools, UMass Amherst, The Federated Garden Club, The Springfield Garden Club, The Springfield Forestry Division and ReGreen Springfield worked to transform the green space into a beautiful grove of trees. This event is a great example of what ReGreen can accomplish by collaborating with other local organizations. Please drive by and check out our hard work!
