Status Report on Springfield Invasive Plant Control Project Released

A comprehensive status report providing an overview of an ongoing project in Springfield, Massachusetts, focused on invasive plant control in public landscapes was recently released by ReGreen Springfield. The project aims to reduce the population of invasive plants in the city by 15% over a five-year period. The primary objective of the current phase of the program is to address the invasive Japanese knotweed. The project is funded by a grant from the Springfield Community Preservation Act Committee and is being implemented by ReGreen Springfield in collaboration with the Springfield Parks Department and the Springfield Conservation Commission.

Help Plant a Perennial Garden at the Mason Square Library – May 6th

Please join ReGreen Springfield for a planting of a new garden at the Mason Square Branch Library (765 State Street), on Saturday, May 6th! We will be planting perennials and pollinator plants in the garden area, hoping that we can add to the ecological and aesthetic value of the garden. Plan to help, observe or just offer support to this effort.  Bring your family and friends to this community effort.  You’ll have fun and help to make the neighborhood a bit more sustainable, reslient and beautiful.

We will be starting at 10:00 AM and finish at 1:00 PM, when we will have an old fashioned barbecue with burgers and dogs for everyone.  Please plan to join us if you are able.

The event is being held on Saturday May 6th from 10am-1pm. We can’t wait to see you there!
