Forest Park Arboretum Workshops Planned

us_national_arboretum-gardenvisitPlease join us as we work with the City of Springfield Parks Department and the Forestry Division to establish the “Forest Park Arboretum“, which will provide an educational showcase for highlighting the beauty and diversity of the trees and plants growing in the Park.

As part of the effort to create the arboretum, we are inviting you to help identify and record information on the first 200 trees that we will archive. We will teach you the basics of tree identification and lead you out into the Park as we map and collect information on the trees found growing in selected sections of the Park. Two upcoming workshops will get you started as Arboretum Assistants.

Here are details on the Arboretum Assistant Workshops–

Tree Identification Workshop — Saturday, June 11th — 111:00 AM at Forest Park

Please visit www.regreenspringfield.org/learn to register and receive additional information on this initiative. We look forward to your participation and assistance as we move forward in our efforts to make Springfield a bit greener.
