HUD Stewardship half page Web EnglishRegreen Springfield, in partnership with the US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the City of Springfield has begun an exciting new initiative that will create a new ‘Community Tree Steward’ program that will recruit, train, and certify, a team of Springfield residents to plant, maintain, and care for trees. Upon completion of the 10-week program, graduates will be provided with interviews at a job fair, with local green industry businesses, for employment placement.

This program will provide residents, students and others an opportunity to participate in a program of live, interactive instructional sessions that will deliver a comprehensive program of tree care education. Included in this program will be training and instruction on plant growth, tree selection, planting, pruning, tools, safety and maintenance.

The classes take place on Tuesday and Thursdays, from 4:00 – 6:30 PM, at the Regreen Springfield classroom facility, at 1 Federal Street. The first class begins July 25, 2017, with a kick-off orientation event.
