Tree Survey Work Underway Along South End Streets

A team of Certified Arborists, under the direction of the US Forest Service Northastern Strike Team, is surveying the South End Neighborhood, in an effort to determine potential locations for new tree plantings.  The work of the Strike Team, comprised of tree experts from agencies and organizations throught New England and Midl-Atlantic, was mobilzed in an effort to assist in the regreening  efforts underway in Springfield.  Earlier this month, members of the team suveyed all of the street trees in the entire tornado zone, in an effort to confirm the safety and survival potential of trees that remain growing along Springfield’s streets.

The Strike Team will continue their work over the next few weeks, covering all of the neigborhoods in the tornado impact zone, and identifying locations for future tree plantings along the public way.
