Green Skills Citizen Science Team Plants Shade Trees and Pollinator Garden

Pollinator Garden Planting on Glendell Terrace

Members of the Summer 2024 Green Skills community volunteer team planted a new pollinator garden on Glendell Terrace, in Springfield’s lower Forest Park Neighborhood in September.

Twenty team members created a new pollinator garden that is a haven for bees, butterflies, and birds. The project has truly enhanced the neighborhood, adding beauty and joy to the Forest Park community. A huge thank you to everyone who helped bring this vision to life.

We also want to acknowledge the US Forest Service, the Springfield Community Preservation Committee and the Springfield Water and Sewer Commission for their generous support of our city’s green spaces.


Transforming Glendell Terrace with New Trees

Members of the Springfield Green Corps community volunteer team planted new shade trees on Glendell Terrace, in Springfield’s lower Forest Park Neighborhood in September.

Thirty team members, along with community residents, members of the Springfield Water and Sewer Commission planted (12) large stature shade trees on Glendell Terrace, in order to help restore it historic landscape.

We also want to acknowledge the US Forest Service, the Springfield Community Preservation Committee and the Springfield Water and Sewer Commission, and the City of Springfield Forestry Division for their hard work and generous support of our city’s green spaces.
