Welcome the the Great Springfield Birding Trail website.
The Great Springfield Birding and Nature Trail is a series of locations within the City of Springfield’s parks and open spaces, where quality viewing spots have been mapped out by avid birders for the public to enjoy. The birding and nature trail is part of the Connecticut River Watershed, and is an urban bird haven along the Atlantic flyway.
Springfield is an important resting and nesting area for migratory and resident birds. We hope you enjoy observing the birds that make Springfield a special city. Springfield is also an official Urban Bird Treaty City.
We continue to expand the resources that can be used to more fully explore Springfield’s birding hotspots, and we hope that you can help us as we work to bring tools, educational programs and other opportunities to you. We hope that you will join us as we help to bring awareness of birds, habitats and natural resources to the public.
